They make a very delicious one at Cafesserie Mombasa. It offers the best of both worlds when it comes to breakfast. Well, three. Enjoy Italian style espresso, a French-style bakery that replicates classic French pastries and baking as well as continental breakfast. The cafe is located on the ground floor of City Mall in Nyali.

3. Java House Nyali
It’s no secret to both visitors and locals; Java House is the kind of place where you can enjoy a good breakfast while catching up with your friends. You’ll find an extensive breakfast menu with all fresh everything from cappuccinos to banana cakes to burgers, fresh juices and everything in between. 4. Karibu Old Town Restaurant
Just next to Fort Jesus you’ll find this restaurant with a little bit of history all over its wall. They serve well prepared local Swahili breakfast as well as continental English breakfast. You can have anything from Mahamri, Swahili tea to buttered toast and fresh juices. At the back, they have a terrace featuring beautiful views of the ocean.

5. Cafe Arabika
With stunning views of the ocean, Café Arabika is a place to go for a relaxed breakfast any day of the week. Meals are prepared with a Mediterranean touch, and breakfast portions are massive enough to keep you full throughout the morning. It features plush furnishings, a laid-back atmosphere, and a quick service. You’ll find all kinds of food including home-made pastries, sumptuous desserts and an array of coffee and beverages.

6. Jahazi Coffee House
You’ll find this artsy, cushion-strewn Swahili style restaurant on Thika Street in Mombasa. The coffee shop is located on the ground floor of an ancient renovated Swahili house. They will serve you everything local from kaimati, samosa, bhajia, masala tea, smoothies, and their Middle Eastern coffee.

7. Blue Room Restaurant
The Blue Room Resturant is one of Mombasa’s oldest and well-known restaurants. It is especially known for its tasty tea, bhajia, and BR ice cream. They have a multi-cuisine food selection that includes local, western and Indian foods. Everything is prepared in-house, and their breakfast selection will make your day. Don’t leave without trying their home-made pancakes, served with syrup and chocolate sauce. Definitely worth the trip!
8. Pavilions at Sarova Whitesands
The Pavilions is the main dining restaurant at Sarova Whitesands with a range of cuisine from local, African, Mediterranean, and Continental to Asian and Arabic. The breakfast affair at the Pavilions is top-notch! They serve buffet style breakfast which is usually traditional English, and it’s also open to non-in-house-guests too. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast paired with a tasty coffee or fresh juice. Apart from the luxurious décor and relaxed ambience, the friendly service with a smile makes this breakfast spot outstanding.

9.10 Street
With wall graffiti art, zebra crossing, a telephone booth, and traffic cones this place is literally a street! The ambience and setting are absolutely urban, and the staff is warm and friendly. It is a nice fast food eatery with a good variety of fast food and good portions of servings for a memorable breakfast in Mombasa. Start your day with a delicious bhaji and special lime sauce, and don’t forget to try their chocolate milkshake, it’s heavenly.

10. Cafe Mocha
Located inside the Nyali Cineplex in Mombasa, Café Mocha is a local favourite with a good selection of breakfast options to choose from. It is a patisserie style eatery and serves vegetarian meals too. Their coffee and pastries are quite good, and it is also kid-friendly making it a good spot for a family breakfast. The locals love to order up the special breakfast menu which includes classic, Nutella or cream pancakes with maple syrup, or a sandwich served with a white Italian baguette, slice bread with freshly salted potato crisps. Whatever you decide to go for, you’ll definitely to start your day off right.
