If there’s anything the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us is how to ensure social distancing and hygiene protocols to prevent the spread of infectious diseases!

It’s clear that coronavirus is here to stay for long and it’s time we adapt our lifestyle to protect ourselves from the virus. Moreover, life is too short not to travel to your favorite locations.

Here are 25 important travel safety tips that will not only protect you from COVID-19 but also several other infectious diseases:

  1. Keep a sanitizer with you and use it on your hands every 15-30 minutes to keep germs at bay!
  2. Wear a mask at all times. Make sure you wear it properly so it covers your nose and mouth. Try to find a mask with a nose-pin because they fit perfectly!
  3. Avoid touching your face! Your hands carry a lot of germs and these can enter your body through your eyes, nose or mouth. Keeping your hands off your face prevents the transmission of numerous infections!
  4. Don’t touch railings and other unnecessary objects while you’re traveling. Keep your hands to yourself!
  5. Maintain social distancing protocols. Keep a minimum distance of 6 feet from others!
  6. Make sure you cough or sneeze in your elbow. Your droplets could be contaminated!
  7. Don’t carry any hand luggage. The more luggage you carry, the more luggage you’ll have to protect from micro-organisms!
  8. Don’t move around once you’re inside the aircraft!
  9. Don’t ask for food or water on the flight. Bring your own snacks and water if possible.
  10. When it’s time to get off the aircraft, make sure you still maintain social distancing protocols.
  11. Try to get a window seat because that way, you’ll be least exposed to others.
  12. Make sure you don’t touch doorknobs until absolutely necessary. Carry wipes or tissues with you and use them to touch doorknobs. Discard them afterward!
  13. Disinfect your luggage once you’re out of the airport!
  14. Don’t shop at the airport. It’s not worth the risk!
  15. Don’t touch your mask once you have it on. Your hands could contaminate your mask.
  16. Avoid using restrooms at the airport or during your flight.
  17. If you plan on staying at a hotel, make sure you choose a good one that has strict hygiene protocols in place!
  18. Use QR codes to make any necessary payments while traveling. If a QR code isn’t available, use a credit card/debit card and make sure the vendor sanitizes their hands before touching the card.
  19. Disinfect your phone using alcohol wipes.
  20. If any passenger near you constantly coughs or sneezes, ask your aircraft crew to change your seating.
  21. Don’t touch magazines/newspaper/pamphlets that are in the pocket/space in front of you. Try to carry a phone or tablet to entertain yourself.
  22. Don’t borrow pillows/blankets/earphones from your aircraft crew. Bring your own earphones.
  23. Wear sunglasses if you’re traveling during the day. This can help protect your eyes!
  24. If you’re using a trolley to carry your luggage at the airport, make sure you wipe its handle before touching it.
  25. If you’re getting a taxi to/from the airport, make sure you choose a taxi company that makes sure their taxis follow hygiene protocols.

Just follow these tips and you’ll be safe from a lot of infectious diseases that are easily transmitted in close spaces!
