Are you looking for a place to unwind, have good food, be surrounded by nature, release all the work stress, and absorb positive vibes? These 10 weekend getaway destinations are the perfect spots for you!

They’re easily accessible via the three major cities of Tanzania, and you’re guaranteed to have a great time here!

1. Tarangire National Park

Home to the Big Five, this park is a terrific place to spot zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and a wide variety of other iconic African wildlife. This is the 6th largest Tanzanian park and is famous for its vast elephant population and mini-wildlife migration and that it hosts during the dry season. The river Tarangire adds a photographic touch to the vast plains of the park. Tarangire also allows night drives for those living inside the park. So, make sure to check with the lodges before you book if a night safari is on your hit list!

2. Chemka Hot Springs

Just a two-hour drive away from the Arusha hotel, the hot springs of Chemka await you. This paradisiac oasis exists amidst the Tanzanian savannah offering captivating views of crystal-clear water and dense vegetation around. Relax in the warm waters after a trip from the safaris or a Kilimanjaro hike. Spend a few hours soaking in the pleasant waters, swinging on the rope, and feasting on the local food.

3. Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The most prominent feature of this park is the Ngorongoro Crater – the world's largest unbroken caldera. Extending over the Rift valley, it has a variety of habitats and landscapes. Experience the ultimate wildlife safari as this park is home to some fiercest predators, fastest prey, endangered species, and vibrantly colored migratory birds. Don't miss this spot if you want to reconnect with nature by looking at the mighty lions or the silvery-cheeked hornbills.

4. Amboni Caves

If you are up for adventure and love to explore exciting new stuff, then this place in Tanga is a must-visit. The limestones caves of Amboni are the most extensive subterranean systems in East Africa. Now home to a thousand bats, it was formerly believed to house various spirits and continues to be a place of worship and rituals. Walking through narrow tunnels and chambers while getting views of incredible formations makes the visit well worth it.

5. Usambara Mountains

The high degree of endemism in the flora and fauna of these mountains makes its biodiversity a hotspot. Choose this place to break from the safari's heat and dust and disconnect from the worldly routine. Enjoy the lush green surroundings and champagne air. These mountains are ideal for hiking, biking, bird watching, and, most of all, just relaxing!

7. Mbudya Island

Away from the city's hustle and bustle, a 15 mins ride from Dar es Salam will take you to the pristine island of Mbudya.
