You will be stopped at routine police checks, be polite and have your rental papers and driving permit handy.
Always use seat belts, please.
Do not hesitate to call the rental office for any assistance.
You'll be provided with 24/7 assistance contacts when picking up your vehicle.
Roads are not protected by fences; expect children and others to be on the roads.
Animals can often roam freely.
Observe safe speed at all times.

Pick Up and Drop Off Information

Car Rental: most vehicle pickup and drop-off is done at the airport or ferry port in Zanzibar Town. However, Zanzibar Best Car Rental will deliver / pickup your vehicle/s anywhere on the island. Pickup and drop-off within Stone Town, Zanzibar Town, Airpot and Ferry port is free.

When making your booking online, you'll have the opportunity to select a location and time for both pickup and drop-off.

Fuel Allowances and Where to Buy

Your rental vehicle will have a full tank of fuel when handed over to you.

There are numerous filling stations around the island manned by pump attendants. We recommend that you check that the pump is reset before filling takes place, and that you check the reading before handing over money.

On returning the vehicle, should the tank not be full, it will be filled by the company and charged for without any handling fees.

Accident and breakdown Policy

You're covered! Zanzibar Best Car Rental insures its vehicles for registered drivers with a Zanzibar Driving Permit. The driving permit is provided when you pick up your vehicle.

If in an accident, preferably remain with the vehicle if safe to do so and call the company straight away. You'll have their contact details for 24 hr assistance.

In the unlikely event of a breakdown, 24/7 assistance is available. If the probelm cannot be quickly resolved at the roadside, you'll be given a replacement vehicle immediately to keep the wheels of your vacation rolling.

Tour and Guide Drivers

Prefer to have a driver / chauffeur with your rental vehicle? No problem. Advise the business in the comments section available when making your online booking. The company has drivers speaking numerous languages including fluent English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, some Dutch and also a little Russian.

All drivers are trained guides, residents of Zanzibar and know the island and its attractions very well.
