About the tour

A journey to Zanzibar opens your eyes to its many cultural elements, from art to dance and music. A half-day tour around the island is a way to discover and experience the Swahili culture first-hand. Visit the rural villages to help you get immersed in the day to day activities of the Swahili people.

This excursion will give you a real insight into the life of the Zanzibari people!

Highlights:

  • Take a cultural tour to some of the rural areas and watch the women weave baskets, cook the local dishes and grind millets.

  • See the young men scale tall palm trees for coconut, and get impressed as they crack open these coconuts for you to get refreshed under the sun.

  • Relax and watch the men make thatch roofs from palm fronds.

  • Join in the game of Bao, a local pastime game



Transfers ex Stone Town and return, professional guide/s, contribution to local villages and participants.

Dress conservatively - ladies to please cover shoulders and legs. Camera (ask before taking pictures of people, their homes and children).
