Moshi Airport Guide
Moshi Airport is an airport in the Kilimanjaro Region of north-eastern Tanzania, serving the municipality of Moshi. The airport is 13.8 nautical miles east-northeast of the Kilimanjaro. Travelling to Mount Kilimanjaro or the national park in the surrounding area gives you two options of entry either you opt for Arusha or Moshi Aiport. Moshi Airport, also known as by its IATA Code QSI, is a regional airport located in the Moshi Region in the Northern Circuit part of Tanzania.
The reason for having two airports nearby is to provide travellers with more options. Since Mount Kilimanjaro is such a unique attraction, more choices mean they can accommodate more visitors. The Moshi Airport is located strategically to help tourists who come to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.
Due to the influx of tourists to this hotspot in the northern zone and to provide a better experience for travellers and create jobs in the region, a renovation program has been set up. The Tanzania government has committed that Moshi Airport is renovated as of 2018. The airport is not fenced and was tarmacked in 1954, which calls for another severe refurbishment.
