Baggage

Baggage

The demands of flying in East Africa means that aircaraft that can easily and safely fly into both traditional airports as well as remote, gravel topped airfields are used by the operators.

Most regional flights in East Africa are in small planes. They have little cargo space and reach their maximum weight easily.

This means there are restrictions on the weight of your bag, but also on the dimensions.

Most airlines have a weight limit of 15kg per person, so make sure you pack light. You may be able to get away with more if there are empty seats on the plane, but once the plane is full there is no more wiggle room and your extra bag(s) will be left behind no matter how much you offer to pay for the excess baggage.

Hand baggage is restricted to personal effects and usually cannot exceed 3 kg.

For items with unusual dimensions, sports equipment, animals it is best to call us here to avoid disappointment.

Excess luggage is generally pre-bookable in advance by contacting us here or the airline directly.

It is also strongly recommended to use soft luggage as they can be squeezed into the small cargo compartment in the undercarriage of the plane. Hard cases cannot easily fit in this area and there is a risk they need to be left behind.
